Recently, one of our friends said: 'You have to look a long time to find someone with a bigger heart than the Rösch family'. What we can judge is that Nietzsche was right when he once said that one is best punished for one's virtues.
If you look back over the last 35 years, a life full of work and hard graft, a life for Lusatia, for nature, for the people, for the state coffers... Then you become very thoughtful when you are asked what for - or even what you are thankful for. That you secured jobs when there was mass unemployment and emigration bonuses here; that you stood up for the preservation of nature at the risk of your life while coal dust was declared a world cultural heritage site here; that you dutifully obeyed every law, no matter how crude, while lawless parallel societies are tolerated by the state in Germany; that you paid the highest tax and social security contributions in the world - and in return, as a German in Germany, you were expropriated twice by Germans [illegally, as we know today] - then you become very thoughtful.
But God does not play dice. He sees everything. And He alone will pass judgment on the Last Day. And because we know this, and because we believe it, we have never changed our convictions or our character.
For 35 years, we helped the poor and needy on an almost biblical scale, organized Christmas parties for pensioners, school hiking days, sponsored sports and cultural clubs - we were like a second family to many of our employees.
We have contributed to countless village festivals, local festivals and country parties, made cultural traditions possible, from Easter bonfires to carnivals, and looked after German war graves. We have also provided massive financial support to our municipalities.
And we support the brave Ukrainians - not the local UA deserters who have left and betrayed their country, but those who are on the front line, who have lost their fathers, who weave camouflage nets. Or who simply have nothing left to eat.
No one has given us anything, no one has ever supported us, no government, no chamber, no administration. God only knows how many former employees have forgotten to say thank you for saving their jobs in times of great need, when jobs were still gold dust. And that some have forgotten to give back what wasn't theirs [...] But it is what it is, and putting things right is up to God alone. Everything is in his hands.
Today, many people no longer realize that health, happiness and a good life cannot simply be taken for granted. We are born and we die, we experience great or small happiness - and sometimes also misfortune. And God is always close to us, because everything is in his hands. Gratitude for the happiness we experience teaches us humility, to listen to those who need help and to trust again and again that the almighty God will provide justice.
